Mennonites first came to the Atlantic Provinces in 1954, when Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) Voluntary Service workers arrived in Newfoundland as teachers and nurses. Since that time, six MB churches were started in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Today, only three of these churches remain.
